Freesat deal agreed with Retra
29 April 2008

A deal has been agreed between Freesat and Retra that will see independent retailers selling the free-to-air satellite service, subject to them signing a service level agreement.

Speaking at the organisation's annual conference, Bryan Lovewell, Retra’s chief executive, said: "Needless to say we are delighted that this agreement has been reached.

"With 2008 predicted to be a challenging year, new products such as Freesat can only help independent retailers increase footfall and profits.

"I am particularly pleased that independents will be able to sell Freesat ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games, which take place in August.

"What Freesat must do now is work to ensure independent retailers have access to timely information and support in order to effectively sell the service."

Independent retailers will be able to place their Freesat orders with BDC, Double D, Euronics and Eurosat.

Meanwhile, Mr Lovewell has joined Freesat’s steering committee.
