| Freeview+ kicks out Playback | |
| 04 July 2008 Freeview is to dump its Playback brand in favour of Freeview+ to denote its digital TV recorders. The coming months will see the Freeview+ name roll out on packaging and in stores, as the terrestrial TV platform works to raise awareness and sales of its hard disk recorders. A major push is also promised in the run up to Christmas, with details still to be released. The terrestrial TV platform has decided to follow Sky+ and Virgin Media's V+ because, said Freeview general manager Ilse Howling, viewers now understood the terminology. When the Playback name was chosen two-and-a-half years ago, there was not the wide awareness of what "+" was about, she said. Freeview will be pushing the digital TV recording (DTR) market heavily this year. At the moment, it is growing by around 76 per cent a year. Read the full story in ERT Weekly. | |
